Kinross House is located between Lochleven Castle and the town of Kinross in Scotland and possesses one of the most historic views in Scotland, directly across the loch from the 11th century castle where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned and finally abdicated.
According to Wills’ Cigarette Cards the House is of significant architectural importance as one of the finest examples of Scottish Renaissance mansions in Scotland. It was built during the second half of the 17th Century probably under the supervision of James Smith, an architect who had the charge of all Royal castles and palaces in Scotland. The handsome sundial illustrated was carved by John Hamilton, a mason on Smith’s service.
