Chelsea is the year’s most important show of the gardening year and for me it’s not just a busy week, it’s usually a busy couple of months getting ready. This year has been no exception and I’m still working frantically to get ready and put the finishing touches to new dials I’ve made and order plants for the stand. Last year’s new product was the stainless steel armillary sphere which has been a great success. This year I’ve got another new dial to show, as well as the lovely shiny new stainless steel armillaries, which is a vertical wall dial made of glass. Not so much a wall dial as a window dial. The dial is nearly finished now and it looks great in the sunny window of my new workshop. The only limit on the design of these new dials is your own imagination really, as almost all designs can be translated into stained glass. I just have to remember to pack it carefully as I don’t want to unwrap a load of broken glass! So, with a couple of weeks to go I best get on with last minute preparations. If you are coming to the show, my stand this year is in a new location, at the bottom of the Sweetingham Steps, stand MR22. If you are at Chelsea, do stop by take a look at the dials and ‘talk time, drink wine’.
